The Cuban-born North-American Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957-1996) was one of the most remarkable artists in New York by the end of 20th century. Sensitive and intelligent artist, he found the right tone to talk politics poetically and love politically; he was almost without equal when explaining death vitally and extracting a message of hope from tragedy itself. If messages are important, in art forms are crucial, and that’s where FGT was a creative volcano: mirror, bulbs, stacks of papers, jigsaw puzzles, sweets… he used all these common life objects in order to force the interactivity of his art and turn it into something people can take home with them.
